Etsy's holiday season is already moving. Etsy's Holiday HQ page for sellers (dated 5 October 2026) sets out the key dates, a seven-step prep checklist and the tools to use. On 14 October, Etsy followed with its Seller Trend Report for Fall and Winter 2026, which shows what shoppers are searching for.
This guide pulls the dates, trends and steps from both into one plan you can finish this week, and adds what Etsy's pages leave out: when to ship.
The short version
Cyber Specials runs 23 November to 1 December. Etsy's page set 27 October as the opt-in date, with at least 25% off. That date has passed, so check Shop Manager to see whether your shop can still join.

What Etsy Cyber Specials means for your shop
Etsy says Cyber Specials is its biggest sale event of the year, running 23 November to 1 December. Per Etsy's Holiday HQ page, you opt in at the shop level or for individual listings, and you offer at least 25% off. Opting in gives your listings a chance at Etsy marketing placement.
Before you opt in, check three things:
Your margin at 25% off. Take your price times 0.75, then check it still covers materials, Etsy fees and shipping.
Which listings to include. Etsy lets you opt in listing by listing, so you can keep a low-margin item out.
The deadline. Etsy's page said to opt in by 27 October and mentions no extension. If you missed it, check Shop Manager to see whether the option is still open for your shop.
Etsy holiday trends 2026: what shoppers are searching for
Etsy's Seller Trend Report for Fall and Winter 2026 (published 14 October) names seven trends. Most figures are Etsy search growth over the three months before 14 September 2026, compared with the same period a year earlier.

Etsy's advice is to focus on the trends that match what you already make or sell. Use Marketplace Insights to check search data for your own category, then work the matching search terms into your titles and tags.
Shoppers are also searching in plain gift terms. In Google Trends (U.S., past month), the rising queries related to "custom christmas gifts" included "custom ornaments", "custom christmas ornaments", "christmas gift ideas", "unique christmas gifts" and "christmas gifts for men". Google Trends shows relative interest, not search volumes. If one of these matches something you sell, use those exact words in your listing titles and tags.
Etsy holiday prep checklist: the seven steps
Etsy's Holiday HQ page lays out seven steps. Here they are in order, with Etsy's own figures where it gives them. Etsy says the figures come from aggregated Etsy data from January 2023 to January 2026, and that results vary.
1. Update your About section
Add your story and photos of yourself or your work. Check your banner and profile photo too.
2. Improve the listings that nearly sell
Start with listings that get traffic but few sales. Etsy's data points to these changes:
10 or more photos: up to 30% higher conversion.
A video: up to 12% more sales per impression.
Descriptions of around 250 words or more: up to 5% higher conversion.
All 13 tags, and titles written in shoppers' words.

3. Check processing times, shipping profiles and time off
Update your processing times, check each shipping profile, and add your holiday time off. Etsy's advice is to keep these accurate so buyers can order with confidence before the deadlines.
4. Turn on gifting options
Turn on gift messages and offer gift wrapping at checkout.
5. Set up the Etsy Seller app
Etsy recommends the Etsy Seller app so you can manage your shop from anywhere.
6. Opt in to Cyber Specials
Opt in at the shop or listing level, with at least 25% off. See the section above for the dates.
7. Check your packaging
Etsy points to recyclable packaging through its EcoEnclose partnership. In a survey of 1,774 U.S. buyers, 54% said they are more likely to buy when items ship in recyclable packaging. Etsy notes this reflects stated intent, not actual behavior.
Etsy holiday shipping deadlines: what Etsy's page leaves out
Etsy's Holiday HQ page gives no shipping cutoffs and no delivery timelines. Its only shipping advice is to keep processing times and shipping profiles accurate. So the ship-by dates have to come from your carrier. The USPS dates are in the table above. These are the main FedEx and UPS domestic dates for Christmas delivery.

For FedEx Ground and Home Delivery, transit time depends on the origin and destination ZIP code, so check the exact transit time before you promise a date. UPS Ground has no fixed date in the sources, so check ups.com/ctc.
If you ship to the U.S. from another country
The carrier lists above cover U.S. domestic shipments. They do not list cutoffs for parcels coming into the U.S., which depend on your origin country's carrier and on customs. Ask your carrier for its last-ship date to the U.S., then build in a buffer for customs. Set your processing times and shipping profiles to match, so the delivery dates buyers see at checkout are ones you can keep.

Should I put my Etsy shop on Vacation Mode over the holidays?
Etsy's feature is called Vacation Mode, though some sellers search for it as "holiday mode". While it is on, your listings and Etsy Ads do not appear in search, and listing pages show an "Item unavailable" notice. You are still responsible for fulfilling existing orders, managing cases and replying to messages. It stays on until you turn it off, and recurring fees are not paused automatically. Per Etsy Help, listings that are not set to auto-renew expire after 4 months, and that countdown continues during Vacation Mode. If you only need a few days off, check your processing times and holiday time off first (step 3 of the checklist above).
How do I turn Vacation Mode on or off on Etsy?
On Etsy.com, go to Shop Manager, then Settings, then Options, and open the Vacation Mode tab. Switch it On or Off and select Save. In the Etsy Seller app, select More, choose Vacation Mode under Shop Settings, and slide the toggle. If Etsy placed your shop in Vacation Mode, you cannot turn it off yourself. After you turn it off, Etsy says listings usually return within minutes.
